Communication audit
Understand what is working, where confusion or risk may arise, and what to improve first.
Who this service is for
Choose a communication audit when your organisation already communicates but results are unclear, messages feel inconsistent, or you need an independent view before investing in a new website, campaign or strategy.
How the audit works
We agree the scope first, then review the communication environment, messages and selected channels. You receive a prioritised assessment and a consultation with your team. Deliverables are adapted to your organisation and confirmed before work begins.

Communication Audit
Choose this service when your organisation is communicating regularly but the results are unclear, the message feels inconsistent, or you need an independent view before investing in a new website, campaign or strategy.
What's included
Depending on the scope, we review:
- Research, interviews and analysis of the communication environment.
- Brand positioning, value proposition and differentiation.
- Key messages, proof points and consistency across channels.
- Website, social media, presentations and selected campaigns.
- Customer or stakeholder journey and calls to action.
- Reputational, ethical and communication-compliance risks.
Optional in-depth module
Sustainability & Impact Claims Review
For organisations communicating environmental or social impact, we can add a focused review of sustainability claims. We identify vague or unsupported wording, evidence gaps and potential greenwashing or social-washing risks, and recommend a clearer internal review process.
This is a communication review and does not replace formal legal advice.
What you receive
Depending on the agreed scope, the final package may include:
- an executive summary or communication scorecard;
- a prioritised list of issues and risks;
- an assessment of positioning and key messages;
- examples of improved wording;
- recommendations for selected channels;
- Implementation roadmap and action plan;
- presentation deck;
- final consultation with your team.
The scope and final deliverables are agreed before the audit and adapted to your organisation's priorities.
How this connects to KOLO's work
Diagnose is the first step of KOLO's 3D model. It can stand alone or lead into brand and communication strategy, or into training if the main need is internal capability. Our methodology is built to avoid vague or unsupported claims, including sustainability claims where that review is in scope.
Questions organisations often ask
When do we need a communication audit rather than a new strategy?
An audit is useful when communication is already happening but the results, consistency or risks are unclear. It gives an independent view before you invest in a new website, campaign or strategy.
What does the audit include?
Depending on the agreed scope, we review positioning, messages, selected channels, stakeholder journeys and communication risks. An optional module can look at sustainability and impact claims. This is a communication review and does not replace formal legal advice.
Can this be combined with KOLO's other services?
Yes. Each service can be commissioned separately or combined. Many organisations start with Diagnose and then move to Design or Develop when the priorities are clear.
